International Survivor's of Suicide Loss Day
International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day was created in 1999 by the U.S. Senate, and every year thousands of suicide loss survivors around the world participate in Survivor Day events to share their experiences, gain insight, and comfort in the knowledge that they are not alone.

The Crane Story:
Sadako Sasaki, a Japanese girl who was 24 months old when shew as exposed to radiation from the atomic bombing of Hiroshima in WWII popularized the story of the 1,000 Cranes. She developed Lukemia at the age of 12 and spent much time in the hospital where she began folding oragami cranes with the goal of making 1,000. It is said that anyone who folds 1,000 paper cranes will be granted a wish by the Gods, sadly Sadako died before folding a thousand, but the tradition still lives on. Hopeful Hearts in Indiana County folded Cranes for our Event and each family member wrote a message and the name of their lost loved one. The Crane Symbol stands for Loyalty, Nobility, and Beauty.
