News about the Suicide Task Force of Indiana County

The Suicide Task Force of Indiana County has trained 693 individual's in the community in QPR-Question, Persuade, and Refer, which is an evidence based practice.  We have trained every school district in Indiana County under Act 71, House Bill 1559 that was passed in 2014!  The Task Force will be hosting their 6th Annual Walk for a Wonderful Life, 5th Annual Angel's On Earth Ceremony, and the 3rd Annual International Survivor's of Suicide Loss Day!

Act 71 Information:

Act 71 was passed in 2014 as House Bill 1559. The law requires every school district in Pennsylvania to:

  1. Adopt a set of policies and procedures for suicide prevention in their district and post this policy on the school website. Act 71 outlines what is required within this policy.

  2. Train all educators in grades 6-12 in suicide prevention for a period of 4 hours every 5 years.

The Suicide Task Force of Indiana County has 4 trainers for QPR Training. (Question, Persuade, Refer)  Please contact Brandy King at stf32@mail.com for any interest in receiving QPR training!  It is an hour and a half training on warning signs, and how to talk to someone, and where to refer them.
